Vintage 1927 Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Mobicycle Bicycle built in Fitchburg Massachusetts. This Iver Mobicycle was a little hard to research because it was not pictured in the Catalogs. Iver Catalogs feature the smaller Mobicycle, where the top tube slopes down with the motorbike tubes getting smaller towards the head tube. This Iver Mobicycle does the opposite and gets bigger toward the head tube. The Bike is not shown but only listed as a Larger 20″ frame upgrade option. This Old Boy has metal covered wood wheels, truss fork, Unique Iver fenders, and Great Patina telling a story of many years of service.

Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works, famous for their iconic Truss Bridge Bicycles and Firearms, were built in Fitchburg Massachusetts from the late 1890s till they closed their doors in the 1940s. This 1927 Iver Johnson Chater Lea Special Racer is the Holly Grail of Iver Track Bicycles and Glorifies Iver’s Commitment to Racing. Iver Johnson has a deep rich history in track racing, most notably known for the African American Racer Marshall Walter “Major” Taylor. Major Taylor had a dominant career in Track Racing and became the second Black Athlete, in any sport, to win a world title. This Top of the Line Bike has Special Chrome-Mo-lib-den-um cold drawn seamless steel tubing an is adorned with Special Chatter Lea Hanger and Hubs. Iver Johnson Bicycles are amazing machines with gun smithing quality and detail. This Iver Special Chatter Lea Racer is also called a Model 90B.

This Hibbard bike is a Deluxe Motorbike that was made by Arnold Schwinn & Company for the Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett, and Company Hardware Stores. H.S.B& Co. was from from Chicago Illinois and had a long history in hardware and bicycles, from the mid late 1800s up past the Second world war. H.S.B. & Co. was also known to developed the True Value Hardware line that still exists today. Early Schwinn are not very common and this one with a Historic Hardware background makes this bike quite a find.

Vintage Columbia Archbar / Truss Bridge Bicycle made by Pope / Westfield Manufacturing. Columbia’s Description in 1921 was “The Columbia Archbar is another Westfield product made up to the same exacting requirements and quality standards that have made Columbia bicycles universally preferred and accepted as “Standard of the World”. Note the famous Columbia roadster type two-piece crank hanger and other important details of up-to-the minute equipment. The extra truss bar not only adds to the attractiveness of the mount, but gives additional strength where bending or fracture is likely to occur.”
