Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Early Suspension Bicycle built in Fitchburg Massachusetts from 1906 to 1917, but at a best estimate would be from 1910. This is another Iver rendition of their Famous Truss Bridge Frame with springs added for a cushioned ride. The Spring frame is definitely unique and I was quite impressed with its technology for such a early suspension bike.

This Vintage Fixed Gear Racing Bicycle was a modeled after Major Taylor’s own Track Bicycle. This Roadster featured light steel tubing and designs specified by Taylor himself, The Truss Bridge was added to the frame for durability for off track street use. This Frame gained Iver Johnson much strength notability, know as ” Trust the Truss “. Major Taylor is a Famous Black Racer out of the 1890′s, who endured racial criticism ( often banned from American races ), but still rose to the top of the racing ranks. Major Taylor’s racing career flourished in Europe ( where sportsmanship out weight racism ) in the early 1990s winning the majority of races he entered. Taylor’s Success and sponsorship by Iver Johnson greatly helped the success Iver Johnson Bicycles.

Iver Johnson was famous for there Truss Bridge Frame But but were not limited to that. This 1908 Iver Johnson Special Roadster Bike is a fine example of Iver’s high end diamond frame bicycles that were built with Shelby steel tubing and new frame building techniques. The diamond frame boasted a lighter weight racer frame with comparable strength to the iconic truss bridge frame. This early Iver has unique Iver cranks and bottom bracket that were only used for a few years. The Diamond Frame Special Roadster may look kinda plain Jane but reflects the Craftsmanship and Beauty to be expected from Iver Johnson Bicycles.

Beautiful Early Ladies Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Bicycle built in Fitchburg Massachusetts. This Wonderfully Preserved Gem appears to be one of Iver’s first self badged Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Bicycle built in Fitchburg Mass. in 1898. The Bicycle has wood wheels, single tube tires, fixed gear hub, front Spoon Brake, Ornate Chainguard, and Wooden rear Fender with Skirt Guards. This Early Iver Could be considered Safety or Early post Safety Era.

This Lovely Duo is a 1898 Mens and a 1899 Ladies Iver Johnson Wood Wheel Pneumatic Safety Bicycles. These Wonderfully Preserved Gems are some of Iver’s first self badged Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Bicycles built in Fitchburg Mass. The Iver Quality and Detail on these bicycles is quite exquisite, with jewelry type detail, actually Gun Smith Quality. The bikes are consecutive years yet have different design reflecting changing innovation of the early Iver Johnson Bicycles.
