This is a 1940-1941 Sears Special Deluxe Elgin Bicycle, Manufactured By the Columbia / Westfield Manufacturing. Elgin was the Brand Name of the Bicycles Sold By Sears Department Stores before World War 2. Elgin Bicycles are Highly Unique and Well Sought After By Collectors, and from the looks of this one, you can see why. The Uniqueness and Beauty of Elgin Bicycles Helped Rival the Sales Away From the Bicycle Giant Arnold Schwinn Bicycles.
Notice the Beautiful Styling, Unique Tank, Deluxe Struts, Gothic Fenders, Chain Guard, and Deluxe Saddle. It has a Prewar, Delta Light and a Nice Rear Elgin Air Cooled Coaster Brake. The Wheels are Trued to Painted Drop Center Rims and Have New Goodyear Pattern Ballooner Tires. The Drive Train is the Unique 1 inch Pitch Chain, AKA Skiptooth Chain. This Elgin is a Full Size Mens Adult Ballooner Bike with 26″x 2.125 Black wall tires. Elgins are Cool Cruiser Bikes having a Long Flowing Design.
