Albert Goodwill Spalding began his sporting career as a Baseball pitcher and later founded A. G. Spalding & Brothers a sporting goods company. During the late 1880s and 1890s, A.G. Spalding produced several different bicycle models and sponsored a racing team to help advertise its cycles. This 1899 Model 1322 Mens Racer Bicycle was Spalding’s top of the Line Track Racing Bicycle interred in to the 6 Day Races. Spalding Bicycles have incredible Beauty and Design and hold a predominant part of Sporting Goods and Cycling History.

Columbia’s Description in 1921 was “The Columbia Archbar is another Westfield product made up to the same exacting requirements and quality standards that have made Columbia bicycles universally preferred and accepted as “Standard of the World”. Note the famous Columbia roadster type two-piece crank hanger and other important details of up-to-the minute equipment. The extra truss bar not only adds to the attractiveness of the mount, but gives additional strength where bending or fracture is likely to occur.”

The Reading Standard started Manufacturing Bicycles in Reading Reading Pennsylvania at around 1906 to 1910, as the Bicycle industry suffered, companies were merged or bought to survive the hard times. Great Western Manufacturing Company acquired Reading Standard and was the second largest bicycle manufacturing company to survive the downturn, Second to Pope’s American Bicycle Company Trust (ABC). Iver Johnson Truss Bridge Spring Frame Roadster Bike

Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Early Suspension Bicycle built in Fitchburg Massachusetts from 1906 to 1917, but at a best estimate would be from 1910. This is another Iver rendition of their Famous Truss Bridge Frame with springs added for a cushioned ride. The Spring frame is definitely unique and I was quite impressed with its technology for such a early suspension bike.
