In 1938 Schwinn introduced the Superior and Paramount line of Lightweight Track Racers and Touring Bikes. The Paramount was the top of the line and the Superior was considered second to top but still an elite bicycle offered at consumer prices. Vintage 1899 Spalding Racer / Roadster Fixed Gear Track Bicycle is an amazing machine adored with all the innovations of the times. Albert Goodwill Spalding began his sporting career as a Baseball pitcher and later founded A. G. Spalding & Brothers a sporting goods company. During the late 1880s and 1890s, A.G. Spalding produced several different bicycle models and sponsored a racing team to help advertise its cycles. This 1899 Model 1322 Mens Racer Bicycle was Spalding’s top of the Line Track Racing Bicycle interred in to the 6 Day Races. Spalding Bicycles have incredible Beauty and Design and hold a predominant part of Sporting Goods and Cycling History.

Vintage 1938 Schwinn Paramount Fixed Gear Track Bicycle

This Antique Schwinn Track Bike belonged to U.S.A. Olympic Racer Chester Nelson Jr. and was taken to the 1948 London Olympics, unfortunately it was a back up bike and was not raced. The 1948 US Olympic Cycling Team was coached by Chester Nelson Sr. (Father), who also raced in the 1928 Amsterdam, Netherlands Olympics for Team USA. The Bike is well used, loved, raced, and came out of a barn of an aging Chester Nelson Jr. about 20 years ago.

Little is known about the Thistle Bicycle except that the Thistle was manufactured by Fulton Machine Works and had ties to Excelsior Cycle Supply both in Chicago around 1892 to 1900. What is known is that Quite Possibly the most Iconic Early Women’s Racer, Tillie Anderson aka ” The Terrible Swede ” Rode a Thistle Bicycle. Tillie Anderson a Swedish immigrant raced in a brief era where women were allowed to race in Road and Track 6 Day races. Tillie entered 130 races and won all but 7, quite a dominating performance and career. Unfortunately women’s racing was taboo and the “LAW” League of American Wheelman abolished Women’s racing in the early 1900s and Women’s Racing would set back for decades. This Antique Thistle Bike is is Quite an Exquisite Piece of Machinery only trumped by an Tillie Anderson Racing Accomplishments.

The Racycle is the top of the Line Bicycle made by Miami Cycle and Manufacturing, Middletown, Ohio USA. The Racycle Boasts the performance of their unique bottom Bracket. Miami also made Flying Merkel Bicycles. Miami / Racycle bikes are rare and highly sought after and come with superior quality and craftsman ship. From My Research I place this Racycle Roadster Racer as a 1898 Model G.
