This Vintage Spalding Shaft Drive with one of the First Coaster Brake Hubs is an Exquisite Turn of the Century Bicycle. Albert Goodwill Spalding began his sporting career as a Baseball pitcher and later founded A. G. Spalding & Brothers a sporting goods company. During the late 1880s and 1890s, A.G. Spalding produced several different bicycle models and sponsored a racing team to help advertise its cycles. In 1899 Spalding purchased the concerns of over 48 bicycle manufacturers, then sold them to the American Bicycle Company, forming a trust in an effort to reduce overhead and improve slumping sales. This 1900 Model 31 Mens Chainless Bicycle was top of the Line “Latest and Greatest” and even boasted the new luxury of a Coaster Brake as all predecessors were Fixed Gear.

Hubba Hubba Eye Candy Lux Low Vintage & Antique Bicycle Hubs

Bicycle Hubs are the Hearts of your Wheels and We are constantly rebuilding and restoring Vintage Bike Hubs for use on our Lux Low Wheels and Bicycles. The argument can be made that not much has changed with bicycle hubs, still an axle, bearings, and a shell and most of the Greater Innovations have been braking and multiple Speeds. The Earliest Rear Hubs were Fixed Gear and crude Decelerators were added to Fixed hubs around 1896. The First True Coaster brakes showed up around 1898. I would say the innovation of the coaster brake was the largest contribution to the Bicycle hub through time, although other inventors would surely have an argument for that.

Miami / Racycle bikes are rare and highly sought after and come with superior quality and craftsman ship. From Research I place this Racycle Tourist from around 1913.

The Racycle is Miami Cycle’s Top of the Line Bicycle and the Pacemaker was the best of best of the Racycle line. Although this Pacemaker was the top of the line, it is well used and has evolved into quite an old boy telling a story of its many years of service. The Hanger Mechanism is the New improved Hanger offered in 1911 and the bike is from 1912. Bike is restored as Found to Preserve it’s Story of an Old Track Racer, although is not Catalog Correct, it’s a Amazing Old Rare Bicycle of the Time!

This Older Spring fork was still and option on Miami Bikes following it’s Replacement and could be Native to the bike or an owners Touch. Bike is restored as Found to Preserve it’s Story, although is not Catalog Correct, it’s a Amazing Old Rare Bicycle of the Time!
