This old 1941 Hawthorne Comet Cruiser Bike has seen some serious action, acquiring paint, scratches, scrapes, scars and when I found this beast I knew it was a 911 Lux Low call to bring her back to life. The Comet was one of Ward’s Hawthorne Upper Line Bikes and this particular one was made by H.P. Snyder “aka Rollfast” for Wards Department Stores. As a Ugly Collectible bike, some would fully restore this find, but a Patina Distress Restore would accent its beauty and tell the story of the bikes extensive use and life. She is totally rebuilt, ready for the open road, and she will get there in style. For this 1941 Comet the beauty may be in the eye of beholder is she a swan or ugly duckling or just plain cool.
