Iver Johnson Truss Bridge Spring Frame Roadster Bike

Iver Johnson Truss Bridge Spring Frame Roadster Bike

17th June 1910 (No Comments)

Iver Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Early Suspension Bicycle built in Fitchburg Massachusetts from 1906 to 1917, but at a best estimate would be from 1910. This is another Iver rendition of their Famous Truss Bridge Frame with springs added for a cushioned ride. The Spring frame is definitely unique and I was quite impressed with its technology for such a early suspension bike. The rear stays have 2 springs in both sides (a large and a small Spring) and have a screw for dampening adjustability. I Find this extremely advanced for a bike of this era, but then again Iver Stood in a class of their own, displaying technical detail that could be considered overkill. This Iver Johnson Truss Bridge Spring Frame Roadster is a Fine Example of a Iver Johnson Bicycle with Gun Smithing Quality Detail.

This 100 year old Iver is pretty nice for her Age, Restored as found with Patina intact. The wheels have Beautiful original paint and have wood showing through in the missing paint spots. The wood rims have been resealed, restored, and have been trued as best as possible with the original spokes. The front hub is a Iver and the rear is a New departure Model A, both spin nice. The Tires are 28″x 1 1/2″ Giant Panda tubulars one holds air and one doesn’t. The Chain is a Great early Diamond Roller # 45 Block Skiptooth chain. The Stem is possibly more interesting than the bike alone. The stem is and Multi adjustable Riser to Racing stem, it is so over designed it is amazing, the wedge bolt is reverse and automatically dislodges the reverse binder bolt, ( that means it does not take a hammer to dislodge it). The handle bars are also threaded into the stem. The Bike is Original (as Found) except the pedals were added. The Wood Wheels and Original Patina is Beautiful and although completely rebuilt, I would say she is more of a show piece than 100 year old Rider. This Iver was purchased form one of the largest Iver Johnson Collectors (former largest) and these bikes like this don’t come around often. It is Rare and Highly Unique and truly can be appreciated by any Mechanic, Bike Geek, and or Collector.

This Amazing Bicycle is Rebuilt, Cleaned, and Sealed.  This Bicycle would Be Perfect For a Collection, Conversation or Decoration. Click here for Details of the Lux Low Vintage Patina Restoration Process on this Bike.
