26th December 1939 ()
Vintage 1938 Hawthorne 5 bar Prewar Cruiser Bike with an interesting ,oddly unique, and rare Twinbar design frame. This Hawthorne was made by the Monark bicycle company for the Wards department stores and from research it appears this bike was only sold in 1938. This rare Ballooner bike featured a 5 bar monark design with unique lugs and bottom bracket.
This Bike is similar to the Rare 1939 CWC or HP Snyder made Hawthorne Zep Frame, only similar so a Zep tank does not fit. This Unique Prewar Bike is a 26″ Ballooner bike with over full size men’s frame, that is larger than typical frames great for bigger riders. The Wheels are rebuilt and trued drop centers wheels with new Goodyear pattern Whitewall 26″x2.125″ ballooner tires. The Seat post is a custom made binder bolt quill seat post, twice as long as the original giving more strength and adjustability. Please note: the fenders braces were originally flat and were to mangled to reuse. This Bike is Patina Restored as found and ready for daily action. A Highly Unique Prewar Bike Perfect for your collection or to ride Daily in Style.
