Early 1900s Antique Lake View Cycle Company Wood Wheel Bike. The Lovely Badge may be the only story to tell “Lake View Cycle Company 3255 N. Clark St. Chicago” After much research I found nothing, not even in the Wheelman lists. I Believe this LVC Bike to be a made from early 1900′s to around 1918 and most likely a small bike Manufacture in Chicago surviving the down turn in the bicycle industry after the Gay 1890s Bicycle Boom. Chicago was home to many small Manufactures in the early 1900s as well as Larger Arnold Schwinn & Co. Most Likely Lake View Cycle Company did not survive through the teens: as the bikes of this era were quite plain effecting consumer excitability & sales, the fact mass amounts of poorly made bicycles were being made flooding the market, and the fact that the ABC “Bicycle Trust” was trying top monopolize the bicycle market in the economic down turn.

This LakeView Bike is a Nice Quality Antique bike showing Craftsmanship superior to mass production bicycles. The Bike is a 28″ x 1 1/2″ Wood wheel Bike and took a Tubular Tire. The Bike is an Interesting Old Bicycle, Restored as Found with Patina intact. The Wood Rims have been refinished, restored, and re laced to original hubs with solid show tubulars. The rear hub is a rare Atherton Coaster Brake and the Chain is an early Skiptooth chain. The Crank & Sprocket are Fauber Special with an unique Bottom Bracket. The Bike is all Original (as Found) except for the seat was a deep bucket spring set (missing the top) and the pedals were just pegs when I got the Bike. The Wood Wheels and Original Patina is Beautiful and although completely rebuilt, I would say she is more of a show piece than 100 year old Rider.

This Amazing Bicycle is Rebuilt, Cleaned, and Sealed.  This Bicycle would Be Perfect For a Collection, Conversation or Decoration. Click here for Details of the Lux Low Vintage Patina Restoration Process on this Bike.
