Vintage 1938 Hawthorne 5 bar Prewar Cruiser Bike with an interesting ,oddly unique, and rare Twinbar design frame. This Hawthorne was made by the Monark bicycle company for the Wards department stores and from research it appears this bike was only sold in 1938. This rare Ballooner bike featured a 5 bar monark design interesting lugs and bottom bracket.

This is an Original Twin 20 model Elgin Bicycle made in late 1939 or early 1940. Elgin Twinbar Bicycles were made by Murray of Ohio and Sold by the Sears Department stores from 1938-1942, Pre World War 2. This Bicycle was the Cutting Edge at it’s time, with a Design that Boasted the Design Similarities of a Suspension Bridge. Elgin TwinBars Very Unique, Highly Sought after By Collectors, and One of My Personal Favorite Antique Bikes. Twin Bars Have a Unique Frame that has no seat tube, an Incredible Head Shroud with logo on the Head tube, a Unique Tear Drop Pod around the bottom bracket, Finned air cooled Hubs, and Raised ridge Gothic fenders. They have incredible Design and Quality Like a Schwinn. Definitely One of the Coolest Antique Bicycles, and In My Opinion, Twinbars Give Classic Schwinn Bicycles a Run for their Money.
